The 4-day Cultural Manu Tour begins in Cusco, taking you on an unforgettable adventure through the rainforest and its breathtaking landscapes. From Cusco, we will travel through Paucartambo, the impressive cloud forest, and Pilcopata, where we will spend our first night in a cozy lodge with mosquito nets and private bathrooms.
On the second day, we will enjoy a delicious breakfast at Pilcopata before continuing our journey toward Atalaya, where stunning Amazonian landscapes will greet us along the way. In the afternoon, we will arrive at Paititi Lodge, our home for the second night, surrounded by the tranquility and magic of the jungle.
On the third day, we will visit the famous parrot clay lick, a natural spectacle full of color and life, and explore the impressive giant tree of the area. In the evening, we will return to Paititi Lodge to enjoy our third night in this unique jungle setting.
On the fourth and final day, after a delicious breakfast in the heart of the rainforest, we will begin our journey back to Cusco, concluding this exciting and unforgettable 4-day adventure through the Cultural Manu region.
Itinerary
We begin our tour with an early morning pickup from your hotel, between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., aboard our comfortable private bus. Along the way, we will explore the impressive Torres Funerarias or Chullpas de Ninamarca, located at 3,750 meters (12,303 ft) above sea level, followed by a brief stop in Paucartambo, a charming folkloric town known for its colonial bridge and rich cultural heritage.
Next, we will head toward the highlands of Paucartambo, specifically the Acjanaco sector, at 4,000 meters (13,123 ft) above sea level, marking the entrance to the majestic Manu National Park. We will descend through the mysterious cloud forest, home to an incredible variety of flora and fauna, including beautiful orchids, heliconias, and ancient ferns. During the hike, you will have the opportunity to witness the fascinating mating ritual of the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock (Rupicola peruviana), and with some luck, spot birds such as trogons (Trogon sp.), quetzals, and even the elusive Spectacled Bear (Tremarctos ornatus).
In the afternoon, we will arrive at the picturesque town of Pilcopata, at 550 meters (1,804 ft) above sea level, where we will stay at a cozy traditional lodge. Located away from the town, the lodge offers comfortable rooms with private bathrooms and showers, ensuring a relaxing and comfortable stay immersed in the jungle.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will continue our journey by bus to Atalaya, a 45-minute ride that takes us to 490 meters (1,604 ft) above sea level. From there, we will board a boat for a 30-minute ride to Paititi Lodge, where we will spend the night in a jungle setting with private bathrooms and showers. During the boat ride, we will have the chance to observe animals in their natural habitat.
In the afternoon, we will visit Cocha Machuwasi and take a ride on a traditional catamaran to admire the wide variety of birds, such as the Hoatzin (Ophisthocomus hoazin), as well as monkeys, reptiles, dwarf caimans, and insects. With a bit of luck, we may also spot capybaras (Hydrochaerus hydrochaeris).
In the evening, those interested can join an optional night trekking experience to explore the jungle after dark. Finally, we will return to the lodge to rest and enjoy its full comfort.
Early in the morning, we will depart by boat to the green parrot clay lick, a mineral-rich clay wall where we can observe 3 to 4 different species of parrots in their natural habitat. After this unique experience, we will return by boat and take a walk through the forest to discover the impressive giant tree. Along the way, we may spot a wide variety of birds, as well as monkeys, small reptiles, dwarf caimans, and insects.
In the afternoon, we will return to the lodge for a delicious lunch and some rest. In the evening, those interested can join an optional night walk, exploring the jungle from a completely different perspective. We will end the day at the lodge, with private bathrooms and showers to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast at Paititi Lodge, it will be time to say goodbye to this jungle retreat and begin our return journey by boat to Atalaya, taking in the river scenery and the breathtaking Amazonian landscapes one last time. Upon arrival in Atalaya, our bus will be waiting to take us back to Cusco, once again passing through the mysterious cloud forest and admiring the lush flora and fauna that make this region of Manu so unique.
Along the way, there will be several opportunities to take photos and relive the most memorable moments of our adventure. We expect to arrive in Cusco between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m., concluding a journey full of excitement, unforgettable experiences, and the incomparable beauty of the Peruvian Amazon.

Recommendations
To make the most of your adventure in the Manu rainforest, bring warm clothing for the cold mornings, rain gear, a water bottle, binoculars, sunscreen, a flashlight with extra batteries, and a hat or cap. Wear a long-sleeved shirt and long pants and use insect repellent with at least 10% DEET. Don’t forget sandals, swimwear, and a towel, personal medications, hygiene items (including toilet paper), and some extra money for additional expenses.

On the journey back, we will once again traverse the enigmatic cloud forest, reflecting on the unforgettable moments of this incredible adventure. We expect to arrive in Cusco by nightfall, concluding our thrilling Manu Jungle expedition.
