The tour begins with the tourist being picked up in Cusco between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m., followed by a six-hour trip to the community of Pacchanta. There, a typical breakfast is enjoyed before starting the hike.
The 11 km trek lasts approximately five hours and allows you to explore the seven lakes of Ausangate: Azulqocha, Orco Otorongo, China Otorongo, Puqacocha, Alqacocha, Qomercocha and Patacocha. During the trek, you will appreciate impressive views of mountains such as Ausangate, Mariposa and Jampa, as well as local fauna such as alpacas, vizcachas and the Andean condor.
At the end of the hike, we return to Pacchanta to enjoy lunch and relax in its hot springs. Finally, the return to Cusco concludes around 7:00 pm.
Itinerary
7 Lakes of Ausangate Full-Day Tour
We will begin our exciting journey to the 7 Lakes of Ausangate with hotel pick-up in Cusco between 4:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.. We will travel toward the beautiful community of Pacchanta on an approximately six-hour drive, enjoying breathtaking views of the high-Andean landscapes, rich in flora and fauna.
Upon arrival in Pacchanta, we will enjoy a nutritious traditional breakfast typical of the region. After a short rest, our expert guide will provide a detailed briefing about the adventure that is about to begin.
After breakfast, we will start the 7 Lakes of Ausangate hike. The 11-kilometer route takes approximately five hours to complete. During the trek, we will visit the stunning lakes Azulqocha, Orco Otorongo, China Otorongo, Puqacocha, Alqacocha, Qomercocha, and Patacocha, while admiring spectacular views of majestic mountains such as Ausangate, Mariposa, Jampa, Pucapunta, Caracol, and Tinke.
Along the way, you may spot native birds, alpacas, llamas, vizcachas, and with a bit of luck, the majestic Andean condor soaring overhead.
After completing the lake circuit, we will return to Pacchanta, where we will enjoy a delicious local lunch. Later, you will have time to relax in the medicinal hot springs of the community, allowing you to recover and recharge after an incredible day of discovery in the Andes.
Finally, our unforgettable adventure to the 7 Lakes of Ausangate will conclude with our return to Cusco, arriving at approximately 7:00 p.m..
