The tour begins with pick-up at the hotel in Cusco between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. After gathering the group, we head north to first visit Chinchero, a picturesque village with agricultural terraces, the remains of the royal hacienda of Tupac Inca Yupanqui, a colonial church built on Inca foundations and observation of the textile manufacturing process from wool.
Then, we will visit Moray, a site with natural depressions that were used as terraces for agricultural experimentation. We will continue to the Maras Salt Mines, where you can observe the salt extraction process since Inca times.
Afterwards, we will go to the Ollantaytambo Fortress, built to protect the entrance to the valley from possible invasions from the jungle. After the visit, we will return to the bus and head to Urubamba to enjoy a buffet lunch.
In the afternoon, we will visit the Pisac Archaeological Complex, which offers impressive panoramic views of the valley. Finally, we will return to Cusco, arriving around 7:00 pm.
Itinerary
The adventure begins with hotel pickup in Cusco between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.. Once the group is complete, we will head north for our first visit to Chinchero, a picturesque town where you will see agricultural terraces, the remains of the royal estate of Túpac Inca Yupanqui, the beautiful colonial church built on Inca foundations, and observe the entire wool process, from washing and spinning to the creation of beautiful textiles.
Continuing our journey, we will arrive at Moray, where we will see several natural depressions used as experimental agricultural terraces. Next, we will head to the Maras Salt Mines, where we will witness the natural salt extraction process dating back to Inca times.
Later, we will visit the Ollantaytambo Fortress, built to protect the entrance to this part of the valley from possible invasions by jungle inhabitants. After the visit, we will return to the bus and head to the town of Urubamba, where we will enjoy a buffet lunch.
After lunch, we will visit the Pisac Archaeological Complex, built during the reign of Inca Pachacútec. Its strategic location on top of a mountain allows us to enjoy a panoramic view of the valley that once led to Antisuyo. After the tour, we will return to the city of Cusco, arriving around 7:00 p.m.
