This amazing two-day journey allows you to explore the most significant archaeological sites in the Sacred Valley, including Pisac, its Apu Inti Huatana mountain, with its system of agricultural terraces, artisan markets, Ollantaytambo, and Urubamba.

We will walk through the magical and historic streets of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, discover the region’s culture and history, and visit the Pisac Artisan Market. Around midday, we will stop in Urubamba for lunch before heading to Ollantaytambo, an archaeological center built by the Inca Pachacutec with military, agricultural, and religious functions.

After the guided tour, we will head to the Ollantaytambo train station to board the train that will take us to Aguas Calientes. On the second day, we will take a bus to the Machu Picchu Citadel, where a professional guide will lead you through the Inca culture, helping you uncover the archaeological treasures of this majestic region. You will enjoy the natural beauty and rich history surrounding you, with the opportunity to relax in the thermal baths in Aguas Calientes before exploring the village.

Itinerary

We begin our 2-day Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu tour. We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco in the morning, approximately between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m.

During our journey through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, we will start by exploring Pisac and its archaeological site.

At midday, we will enjoy lunch in Urubamba. Afterwards, we will visit Ollantaytambo, recognized as the “Best Tourist Village in the World”, where we will observe impressive lithic structures made of finely carved stone blocks, used for astronomical purposes and admired by visitors from around the world.

After the tour, we will transfer to the train station to board the train to Aguas Calientes, a journey of approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes, where you will spend the night.

Early in the morning, we will transfer you to the bus station to ascend to the archaeological sanctuary of Machu Picchu.

The bus ride takes approximately 25 minutes, following a winding road until reaching the Inca citadel.

The guide will lead you on a guided tour of approximately 3 hours, during which you will learn about important aspects of Cusco (Inca) culture, the development of their stone constructions, and unique buildings filled with mystery and energy.

The citadel features both an agricultural and urban area, composed of plazas, temples, roads, stairways, terraces, and aqueducts, all supported by impressive stone retaining walls. Machu Picchu is considered a remarkable architectural and engineering achievement and is therefore recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

After the guided tour, we will return by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time for lunch. Later, you will board the train to Ollantaytambo, where our driver will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco.

Machu Picchu can be visited all year round. For travelers looking for packages that include entrance tickets and transportation, we recommend the months from May to October due to their pleasant weather and lower chances of rain.
November and December mark the beginning of the rainy season, when the landscapes turn green and afternoons become cooler. Although it may rain on some days, tours continue as usual, and the mist covering the sanctuary adds a mysterious touch. If it rains, you can continue the tour wearing a poncho or a waterproof jacket.
Some travelers prefer to visit during the rainy season to enjoy a unique experience at this world wonder. If you wish to avoid rain, the best chances of clear skies are after 11:00 a.m.
In January, February, and March, rainfall is more frequent, making these months the low season, which is ideal for travelers seeking fewer tourists. The landscapes are greener and the weather is cooler.
If you decide to travel during this season, we recommend booking your tickets for after 11:00 a.m., which increases the chances of clear weather. Rain may occur 3 to 4 days a week, with light rain throughout the day or short but intense showers.
Please remember that weather conditions in the Andes are unpredictable, but the information provided is intended to give you a general idea of the seasonal climate.

Although you can book one day before your visit, it is recommended to book five to six months in advance, as entrance tickets are limited. If you wish to visit Huayna Picchu (WAYNAPICCHU), consider booking at least three months in advance.
It is important to book early, as popular tickets, such as Circuit 2, sell out quickly.
If you are unable to book in advance, you may choose alternative tickets, such as Circuit 1 (upper part) or Circuit 3 (lower part).
During certain times of the year, obtaining last-minute tickets can be difficult due to high demand. Therefore, we recommend planning ahead and contacting our agency, YANAPAY TRAVEL, to secure your visit to Machu Picchu.
